The Role 
Consortium’s overarching Strategy team is comprised of three sub-teams which collaborate closely and support execution of various corporate strategy initiatives intended to drive value for our member BCBS Plans. Below is a brief description of the three sub-teams:

  • National Account Client Strategy (the focus of this role): Provides end-to-end consultative support for BCBS Plans to help them win new sales opportunities and retain existing clients. This team serves as an extension of BCBS Plan teams, delivering expertise about national BCBS solutions to supplement local Plan expertise. Involves client or prospect-specific go-to-market strategy and support.
  • Market Insights: Keeps a pulse on large employer expectations of their health plan and emerging market solutions. Responsible for understanding market requirements and identifying gaps and opportunities for BCBS Plans to better meet the needs of national account employers.
  • Knowledge Strategy: Empowers national account BCBS teams through targeted education and webinars, strategic hands-on training and learning opportunities, and delivery of best practice resources.

The Senior Associate of National Account Client Strategy will contribute to the team by supporting both internal and external projects and initiatives, which may include project management, utilization of Consortium tools and resources, data analysis, market research, go-to-market strategy development, and support for stakeholder training and education.

The role enables the individual to interact across all levels of the organization (including the Executive Leadership Team), with specific collaboration opportunities with the Market Insights and Knowledge Strategy sub-teams that also align to the overarching Consortium Strategy team. Collectively, members of the National Account Client Strategy team work together to tackle multiple types of projects and initiatives, while embracing variety in day-to-day tasks and priorities.

 

The Candidate
Consortium Health Plans is seeking a versatile high-performer with a passion for health care who can work collaboratively with Consortium staff and member Plans to execute upon project-specific strategic healthcare priorities. 

The candidate must have intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, innate problem solving-skills, and be able to think strategically. The candidate will be the go-to resource to support the delivery of a variety of Plan-facing consulting projects and intellectual capital development and maintenance. This role uniquely blends responsibilities for both analytics and business insights.  

Preferably, this individual would draw upon experience from roles of increasing responsibility in an employee benefits consulting firm or a commercial medical carrier with experience in the national account employer segment. Candidates with expertise in project management, data analysis, market research, and a strong understanding of the medical RFP process and national account employer lifecycle could thrive in this position.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support the National Account Client Strategy team with sales and retention projects on behalf of BCBS Plans
    o    Leverage Consortium’s suite of sales enablement tools to conduct employer-specific analyses and develop strategic recommendations to support member Plan needs
    o    Utilize go-to-market messaging resources to help BCBS Plans position their value proposition effectively
    o    Conduct market and competitor research
    o    Participate in Plan, consultant, and employer meetings, as needed
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on the national BCBS network portfolio and Consortium’s suite of sales enablement tools
  • Support development and maintenance of go-to-market collateral and resources, including:
    o    Blue High Performance Network materials and sales insights
    o    Value-Based Program market snapshot slides
  • Support delivery of Plan training and educational workshops
  •  Prepare effective Power Point presentations that include a logical and compelling story arc and clearly articulate a point of view or recommendation; includes internal and external audiences
  • Independently manage various projects and initiatives, including Plan consulting projects and national account committee and work group initiatives
    o    Coordinate across various functional areas and ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget
    o    Assist with pipeline management and forecasting
    o    Assist with monthly invoicing
  • Comply with all information privacy and security policies as specified in the “Consortium Health Plans Information Privacy & Security Policy Manual”

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in employer healthcare consulting or with a commercial medical carrier
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
  • Experience in consultative client-facing roles
  • Experience managing projects involving multiple workstreams and stakeholders
  • Advanced Power Point skills and expertise in Excel and data visualization
  • Adept in the areas of research, data compilation/manipulation, and qualitative analysis

Compensation and Benefits

  • Our competitive benefits package includes health plan options, dental, vision, employer paid life and disability, long-term care, PTO and holidays, 401k retirement match
  • We offer a discretionary performance bonus program
  • Pay range for this exempt position is $95,000-$115,000, calculated on an annual basis. Pay is determined by the labor market, education, work experience, skill level and certifications

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to travel locally and nationally (10-20% of time per year)
  • Primarily sedentary. Position requires extensive phone and computer work
